MAY is National Safe Boating Month, Let's all do our part.

USCG Helicopter demonstrates to the public a water rescue from Bayou Texar at the BRACE demonstration. Many agencies are present to show how they serve the public in emergency situations. The Coast Guard Auxiliary is one of these agencies patrolling the waters to control boat traffic, assist the USCG if necessary and narrates step by step of the procedures of the rescue taking place.Helo picking up man in water 
VSC Crew members discuss all phases of patrol by briefing each other on the risks and the mission before going out on water. All safety equipment is checked on both the auxiliarist and vessel to assure nothing is missing and are good working condition before leaving the dock.  
Public education is one of our main objectives. Here one of our Auxiliarist is speaking about the importance of kayak safety and some of the equipment that is recommended to be used. The USCG Auxiliary views educating the public through programs like this as Preventive SAR (Search and Rescue)PE
